    Recreational Team Selection Guidelines Rules: Recreation Basketball

    • 2023 Registration Dates

      2nd thru 6th grade

      Sept. 26 - Oct. 14


      K-1st and 7th-8th boys

      K-1st (Boys & Girls) & 7th-8th (Boys) will register November 8th - December 1st

    • Evaluation Dates/Times/Locations

      All evaluations will take place at the Homewood Community Center


      *Note: Tryouts will be run like a practice. Arrive at least 10 minutes early to check in. Leave together at designated time.

    • Ages that Can Play

      Boys' Divisions

      Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th & 8th graders.


      Girls' Divisions

      Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th & 6th graders.

      Divisions may be combined based on levels of participation.


      *Kindergarten and 1st Grade divisions subject to co-ed combinations based on level of participation.

    • Basketball Sizes

      Kindergarten & 1st grade: 27.5


      Boys 2nd-5th: 28.5

      Boys 6th-8th: 29.5


      Girls 2nd grade: 27.5

      Girls 3rd-6th grade: 28.5

    • Fees

      Kindergarten & 1st grade

      $60 Homewood residents 


      2nd-8th grades

      $100 Homewood residents

      $200 Non-Homewood residents


      Included in fees: Jersey, shorts, referees and awards for teams finishing in 1st and 2nd place. All K-1st graders playing in the coed developmental league will receive an award.


    • Games/Season Dates

      The Kindergarten & 1st grade season runs 8 weeks, early January through late February.


      The 2nd – 7th grade season usually begins in early November and runs through late February.


      Games are mostly Saturday's during the regular season depending on gym availability. Generally they are played between 8am & 5pm. We may play a few weeknight games this season depending on gym availability.


      During the end of the season tournament there is a chance that some games could be scheduled during the week.


    • Volunteer as a Coach

      While registering your child online be sure to check on his/her form that you would like to coach.

    • Making a Team

      Everyone makes a team as long as you register your child before the registration deadline.

    • Requesting Teammates

      Only head coaches child(ren) and siblings are guaranteed.

    • Travel

      All of our games shoud be at one of our centers. While there have been times in the past when boys and girls have traveled to neighboring communities, our goal is not to travel to play games.
