    OTM Cost Explanation

    OTM Cost Breakdown

    Parents & Guardians,

We have received some questions about the increased costs associated with 2023-2024 OTM Basketball pricing. Last year, with the shift to a “Paid Coaches” model Homewood Parks & Recreation (“HWD P&R”) subsidized the entire increase in cost from the prior year. Below you will find a breakdown of the 2023-2024 OTM basketball cost as well as the time commitment each coach will put in during this season.

2023-2024 HWD P&R OTM Cost Analysis for 1 Team:

    • Jingle Bell Jam entry - $375
    • OTM League entry - $800
    • Coaching Stipend - $2400 ($600 per month)
    • Uniform & Shooting Shirt - $1425*

Total cost per team = $5,000
Average cost per player = $535

    * The same uniform design will be used from last year, If your child is selected you will have the opportunity to opt-out of purchasing a new uniform that will decrease the cost $100.00

Homewood Parks and Rec is committed to keeping costs as low as possible, and we are pleased that this cost is less than OTM basketball costs in other communities, and less than other competitive sports here in Homewood.

Payment plans and scholarship opportunities are available based on a need.

2023-2024 HWD P&R OTM Coaches Time Commitment:

    • Attend 4 -10 tryouts
    • Coaching and travel to and from 14-16 games when you include the Jingle Bell Jam and year end tournament
    • Hold 30+ practices, arrive early to set up and remain on site until every player has been picked up
    •  Practice plan, every coach will have a written plan and save in a folder
    • Over communicate with the parents and players. Make a calendar and be sure everyone knows where to be, what time and other specifics.

Total time commitment for the season for each coach = ~120 hours

We recognize this is a sizable cost increase, but OTM Basketball League is highly competitive and HWD P&R is committed to developing our advanced youth players so they can be as successful as possible. Furthermore, it is our belief that this model, even with the increases in costs, will position our players and Homewood Basketball for a bright future.

    Please contact
Jakob Stephens or Lou Difeo directly with any questions.

    Thank you,

    Homewood Parks & Recreation
